FAQ: how replies rank
Does a reply give my account a +5 boost?
No. X’s published For You scoring gives a reply a weight of +5.0, against +0.66 for a like. But these weights multiply predicted engagement probabilities. They aren’t points awarded for individual actions, and replying to someone else’s post doesn’t automatically give your account a +5 boost.
What decides where my reply shows up under a post?
X says reply visibility considers whether the viewer follows you, whether the original author replied to you, viewer-author relationships, predicted engagement, account verification status and negative feedback.
Why does the original author replying matter?
It’s one of the confirmed conversation signals. Getting the author to respond can help your reply’s placement in the conversation, which is why a sharp question or a real addition works better than praise.
Can bad replies hurt me?
The published weights include Not interested −52.272, Mute −58.8, Block −31.2 and Report −234. Again, these are prediction weights, not penalties applied per action. But the message is clear: irrelevant, repetitive replies are a terrible growth strategy.
How many replies a day?
The 30-day experiment: 1 useful original post plus 5–10 thoughtful replies in your niche every day, then respond when authors and readers engage. Track profile visits, relevant followers and conversations.
What is the Reply score?
A quick check from this app, not from X. It rewards replies that are specific, 60–280 characters, not generic, free of links and self-promo, not repetitive and that invite a response. A high score doesn’t guarantee reach. It just makes your reply look like a post instead of a comment.
Is anything sent to a server?
No. Your drafts, history, target list and tracker stay in this browser. Reply on X opens X’s own post box with your text filled in.
